In this day and age it can be very difficult to keep a positive frame of mind. With all of the things going on in the news and how busy you might get from working a long day, it is quite easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out which is why depression has been continually on the rise lately.


Now more than every individuals are struggling with their mental health and well-being. Some psychologists believe that it has to do with how busy people are and the fact that these individuals lack a sense of connection which is vital to leading a happy and healthy life.


“Many people are worried about how busy they are,” said Dr. Laurel Williams, chief of psychiatry at Texas Children’s Hospital.

“There’s a lack of community. There’s the amount of time that we spend in front of screens and not in front of other people. If you don’t have a community to reach out to, then your hopelessness doesn’t have any place to go.”

Because so many people are being inundated with their to-do list and spending so much time in front of their screens, many psychologists are worried that individuals in today’s society are not living a balanced life. Studies have indicated that when people become isolated and lose their connection to their friends and family in real time, depression and anxiety can set in causing a downward spiral.


In a recent interview, psychologist Alex Miller suggested that people spend a minimum of twenty minutes a day focusing on their positive mental attitude. “Things like reading books, praying, or taking in positive quotes can be very beneficial” said Mr. Miller. “It’s important that people invest the time to nurture and feed their mind with the right information so that they can feed their mind and soul the sustenance it needs to thrive”.
