  • Medications that block uric acid production i.e. the drugs called xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOIs), including allopurinol (Aloprim, Lopurin, Zyloprim) and febuxostat (Uloric)
  • Medication that improves uric acid removal and these are the drugs, called uricosurics, include probenecid (Probalan) and lesinurad (Zurampic).
