Why should we take a bath

A bath is one of the most pleasant, simple, and effective procedures for health and beauty. Depending on the added ingredients, it can have a relaxing, tonic, aesthetic, and healing effect. Spa baths are usually enriched with phytotherapeutic ingredients (extracts of medicinal plants, fruits, and vegetables), components that moisturize, nourish and soothe the skin (milk, honey, chocolate, etc.)

It is especially convenient to take a bath with a bath caddy (see an example), when you can arrange creams, salts, light a candle and place a glass of wine.

Add to water and natural oils, essential and fundamental, and thalassotherapy products (therapeutic mud, salts, algae extracts). Therapeutic baths are made mainly based on iodine, bromine, and turpentine components.

When taking a bath, you need to follow several rules. Let’s remember the main ones.

  • You can do this 1-2 times a week. Moreover, you should not lie in the bath for a long time, especially if active substances are added to the water: salts, mud, essential oils, etc. The optimal procedure time is 15-20 minutes.
  • The water temperature is also essential: 97-99° F for procedures with salt and no more than 40 degrees for baths with phytochemicals and essential oils.
  • Fill the bath with water three-quarters and immerse yourself in water approximately chest-high. If there are any unpleasant sensations (burning, itching) during the process, rinse with warm water and complete the procedure.
  • It is not advisable to do peeling before the bath. It will disrupt the natural hydrolipidic film of the skin, and the treatment with active ingredients may become uncomfortable.
  • If you use essential oils, keep in mind that these are highly active ingredients that can irritate the skin, susceptible ones. Do not add more than 4-5 drops of esters to the water. Be especially careful if you are prone to allergies: all aroma oils are considered potential allergens.

Taking a bath to warm up

A warm bath is the best way to warm up in the winter cold. Just don’t rush into it right away, barely appearing from the frost. Wait 20-30 minutes. A sharp temperature drop is very harmful to blood vessels. When taking a bath to warm up, the risk of overdoing it with the water temperature is exceptionally high. No matter how cold you are, keep it under control. Remember that too hot water (more than 104 ° F) is severe harm to the body!

Both the skin and the cardiovascular system suffer. Such “tricks” are especially dangerous with a tendency to varicose veins and rosacea. When taking a warming bath, watch the time: after 10-15 minutes, the water will cool. Don’t miss this moment! To warm up in the bathroom as quickly as possible, you need to increase blood circulation: do not lie in it just like that. It is better to vigorously massage the body in circular motions from the periphery to the center with a soft washcloth.

Taking a bath to relax

Different salts, muds, clays, and algae are perfect for anti-cellulite and relaxing treatments. Especially if you add a few drops of essential oils to them: ylang-ylang, citrus, bergamot. They calm the nervous system and relieve stress.

It is important here not to save money, use only good quality natural ingredients, and mix them yourself. There are too many harmful additives – dyes and perfume fragrances in ready-made industrial mixtures, even based on natural ingredients.

Natural bath mixes

  • Mix 1 cup of sea salt with a cup of kosher salt, add five drops each of lavender and eucalyptus essential oils. Shake the resulting mixture – the components should be thoroughly mixed. Then transfer it to a plastic container. For one relaxing bath, one handful is enough.
  • Mix a glass of sea salt, 1 tbsp. Table iodized salt, 1 tbsp. Micronized algae (sold in a pharmacy), 1 tbsp. Glycerin, 2-3 drops of lime essential oil. The resulting mixture is enough for two baths.

Taking a bath to become more beautiful

A bath is an effective and economical way to improve the skin. You need to add moisturizing and nourishing ingredients to the water. Plus, such a bath improves blood circulation and prepares the skin for subsequent aesthetic procedures – massages, body wraps.
