Digital marketing: trends of the future

Developments in the field of marketing are moving at an exceedingly rapid pace in today’s modern times. Therefore, it is of enormous importance for companies to always be well informed about the current and especially the future trends in digital marketing in order not to risk losing touch with their competitors and the connection to their target group.

But which trends will conquer digital marketing in the future? The following article shows. Competent agencies that help companies implement tomorrow’s trends can be found here.

Content selling instead of content marketing

More and more marketers are recognizing the great importance of content marketing, which is why this discipline is already an integral part of the marketing mix in the majority of companies.

As a result of these developments, content marketing is steadily becoming more professional, causing companies to change their approach to creating marketing materials – the trend is toward content selling. Essentially, this means that content is created to support sales processes in a targeted manner. This also increases the importance of measuring the extent to which content marketing is actually impacting sales.

Hyper-targeting

Most marketers have probably heard the term banner blindness before. Banner blindness describes how many ads are ignored by users because they seem too intrusive and so irrelevant. However, if the ads target the individual needs of the users, their behavior changes.

One study has already shown that just under half of users ignore a brand completely if they find its ads irrelevant or are confronted with the ads too frequently. However, almost 40 percent of users are prepared to make a purchase if the company sends them individual and tailored messages through its ads.

This shows that the future of digital marketing will be strongly shaped by “hyper-relevant” ads. These will be tailored to individual user needs in the best possible way by means of precise targeting.

Voice search

The popularity of voice assistants, such as Siri or Alexa, is steadily increasing. At the same time, this means that an increase in voice-controlled search queries will also be seen in the future. According to forecasts, sales in the area of voice commerce will already amount to around 40 billion US dollars in the USA alone in 2022.

Companies should already take these developments into account when optimizing their websites. Accordingly, content should be designed in such a way that it can also be ideally found by voice assistants.

New occupational fields

In the future, marketers will have to deal with ever larger volumes of data and their interpretation and analysis. The keyword here is Big Data. As a result, jobs that are still relatively unknown today, such as market research analyst, will play an important role in the future. According to forecasts from Boston University, this job position will increase in popularity by more than 40 percent in the next year.

In addition, however, the importance of jobs in the field of growth hacking is also increasing. Growth hackers use a variety of digital marketing strategies and take a leaner and more experimental approach to marketing, enabling highly effective growth.
